A fictional habitat for humanity house build. Home design for low income residents of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Habitat for Humanity Home
The lack of affordable housing along the Front Range has created tension, crisis, and disparity. In order to combat this, we hope to provide opportunities for everyone to own a home regardless of their income. Designed to be constructed in Fort Collin’s Colorado, the home provides opportunity for diversity, equity, and inclusion. The home is small, but provides a family with basic needs to live and work in the Front Range.
Despite being a smaller home, the design allows for guests, a one car garage and multiple bedrooms. This one story homes has two bedrooms, equipped with closets for storage, and a shared bathroom, that is ADA accessible. A in-unit washer and dryer, a back door and front porch provide the user with all necessities for a comfortable life. The open concept kitchen, living room, and dining provides comfortable space for guests and allows users to keep an eye on young children if needed. This design promotes connection and community through its open floor plan and plenty of multi-use space. Wayfinding and circulation space was a big consideration for this home, therefore, there is a clear line of sight from the front to the back of the home.
